The People Behind 1386 Audio

Great podcasts are about people, not just equipment.

Behind 1386 Audio are Mark Wakely and Rachel Cheetham.  Combining audio production expertise with years of experience in business, marketing and communication.  They are the perfect production team.

It's a combination that means we don't just think about how a podcast sounds. We think about who it's for, what you want it to achieve and how to make it something people actually want to listen to.

Meet Mark

Mark Wakely MA (Audio & Radio Production)

Mark has always been a little bit obsessed with audio in all of its forms.

From his days as a pirate radio DJ to community radio presenter, his love of broadcasting eventually led to an MA in Audio & Radio Production and, ultimately the start of 1386 Audio.

It wasn't exactly a conventional route. Along the way, Mark also spent 13 years as a licensed London Black Cab driver.  Many clients often wonder how you get from a cab driver to podcast producer.  Well, it's not as obscure as it first seems as during this period there was plenty of time to become a voracious listener (and occasional critic) of podcasts of every type and quality.

What stuck with him was that great sound shouldn't be reserved for huge productions with huge budgets. A good podcast should sound professional without losing the personality, conversation and ideas that make it worth listening to in the first place.

That's the thinking behind 1386 Audio: great audio, made accessible.

Meet Rachel

Rachel (Cheetham) Wakely PgDip BA

While Mark brings the audio expertise, Rachel brings the business brain.

With an extensive background supporting businesses with growth, alongside years spent in advertising copywriting, marketing and sales, Rachel understands what it takes to turn a good idea into something that connects with the right audience.

That experience brings another perspective to 1386 Audio.  She looks beyond the recording itself to the message, the audience and what the podcast is ultimately there to achieve.

Together, Rachel's commercial understanding and Mark's technical production expertise mean that 1386 Audio can help create podcasts that don't just sound good, they have a purpose.
